How to undo griefing with CoreProtect on your Minecraft server

MinecraftUpdated Oct 28, 20263 min read

CoreProtect records who placed and broke every block, so you can see what happened and undo it. Install it from Modding, Plugins and restart; it records from then on. To undo a griefer's work, type a rollback such as /co rollback u:Steve t:2h r:20, which puts back what Steve changed in the last two hours within 20 blocks of you.

The commands below are from CoreProtect's official documentation.

Install CoreProtect

  1. Open your server in the panel, click the Modding tab, then Plugins.
  2. Search for CoreProtect and click Install on the CoreProtect row.
  3. Restart the server.

CoreProtect runs on Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Folia. It only knows what happened after it was installed. Its commands are for operators by default (coreprotect.* and each command's permission default to op). See How to op yourself and manage permissions on your Minecraft server.

See who changed a block

  1. Type /co inspect (or /co i) to turn the inspector on.
  2. Click a block in the game to see who changed it and when.
  3. Type /co i again to turn it off.

Look up what someone did

/co lookup (or /co l) searches the records, with these parts:

  • u: the player, for example u:Steve or u:Steve,Alex.
  • t: how far back, for example t:2h, t:5d2h or t:2w,5d,7h,2m,10s.
  • r: how far around you, for example r:10 for 10 blocks, or r:#global for everywhere.
  • a: one kind of action, for example a:+block for blocks placed.

Example: /co lookup u:Steve t:1d r:50.

Roll back the damage

  1. Look up first, so you know what the rollback will change.
  2. Type /co rollback with the same parts, for example /co rollback u:Steve t:2h r:20.
  3. Check the area.

If the rollback went too far, /co undo reverses it. /co restore with the same parts puts back what a rollback removed.
