Spawn protection stops players who are not operators from breaking or placing blocks around the world spawn. Change Spawn protection in Settings, Server Properties (Java): a smaller number shrinks the area, and 0 turns it off. Then click Save & restart.
Change it
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- Under Config files, click Server Properties (Java).
- Find Spawn protection:
Radius in blocks around spawn that non-operators cannot build in. Set to 0 to disable. The default is 16. - Type a new number, or 0 to turn it off.
- Click Save & restart.

Who can build inside it
- Operators of level 1 or higher can always build inside spawn protection. See How to op yourself and manage permissions on your Minecraft server.
- When the server has no operators at all, Minecraft turns spawn protection off.
Good to know
- The protected area is around the world spawn point. An operator can move the spawn with the
setworldspawncommand. - For protected areas you draw yourself, with rules for who may build, use a plugin: How to protect your spawn with WorldGuard on your Minecraft server.
