When music stops, read two consoles: the node's Console in the panel first, then your bot's. Find the message in the tables below. A healthy node always ends its start with Lavalink is ready to accept connections.
Your bot cannot connect

ECONNREFUSED, connection refused, a timeout
The host or port is wrong, or the node is stopped. Copy the Address again from the node's Overview and start the node.
401, Unauthorized
The password does not match password: in application.yml. Copy it again without the quotes.
An SSL, TLS or handshake error
Your client has secure or SSL on. The node uses plain http and ws: switch it off.
404 on connect, or a client that never becomes ready
The client is written for Lavalink 3. Your node runs version 4: use a client release that supports it.
The bot is connected to the node, but no song ever starts in the voice channel
Your client library may be older than its DAVE release. Lavalink 4.2.2 then refuses the voice update, and your bot's console shows a 400 error with token, endpoint, sessionId and channelId must be provided in voice state. The node disconnects and comes back
The node restarted, often after running out of memory. Read the node's console for the reason.

ScannerException, mapping values are not allowed here, or another YAML error
A mistake in application.yml, nearly always indentation or a tab. Use spaces only and keep each level two spaces deeper. Restore your backup if you cannot find it.
Invalid dependency
A dependency: line is not in the form group:name:version. Copy it again from the plugin's page.
XmlException: Local name html for root tag does not match expected name metadata
The repository a dependency: line downloads from sent a web page instead of the plugin. Remove that line and upload the plugin's .jar into plugins instead: How to add plugins to Lavalink.
No plugin manifest found
A file in plugins is not a Lavalink plugin. Delete it.
An error naming a plugin, such as a missing key or setting
A plugin was switched on without the keys it needs. Fill them in under its block in plugins:, or switch that source off.
OutOfMemoryError, or the node stops while busy
The node needs more memory than the plan has. Fewer players at once, or a bigger plan.

PlayNHost: could not download ...
A download from GitHub failed and the install stopped. Run it again: Settings, Launch Details, Reinstall. If it fails again, open a ticket.
PlayNHost: checksum mismatch for Lavalink.jar
The file downloaded did not match the version we test, so it was not used. Run Reinstall once more (Settings, Launch Details); if it repeats, open a ticket.
Kept your application.yml.
Not an error: a reinstall left your settings and password as they were.
The search found nothing, or no enabled source handles that link. Check which sources are true under sources: in application.yml.
error (older clients say LOAD_FAILED)
The site refused or failed. The node's console has the detailed reason on the line after your request. Try another site to tell a site problem from a node problem.
No playable stream found
The site offers that track only as a preview or a protected stream. On SoundCloud this is common for songs from big labels; no node can play those.

The code was not entered in time. Restart the node to get a new one.

Access was refused on the Google page. Restart the node and allow it.
This video requires login. or Sign in to confirm you’re not a bot in the node's console, and the song fails as soon as it starts
YouTube refuses to play for a server that is not signed in. Search still works, which is why the song is found first. Sign the YouTube plugin in: How to play YouTube on Lavalink 4.
Slow or choppy audio
Watch CPU on the Usage card on Overview while music plays. If it sits at the limit, fewer players or filters at once, or a bigger plan, fixes it. Filters such as timescale and many players at once use more CPU.
