Your Icarus server is stuck on starting

IcarusUpdated Oct 24, 20263 min read

An Icarus server is ready when the Console shows (Engine Initialization) Total time: or Game Engine Initialized, and the badge turns Online. If that does not happen, open the Console and match what you see below.

The Console shows Steam downloading

With Auto Update on, a start after an Icarus patch downloads the new build first. Wait until the download has finished and the game starts. A normal start is quick; one with an update takes longer.

It stopped right after you added a mod

A broken or outdated mod can stop the server. Remove the mod you added last and start again: How to update or remove mods on your Icarus server. If it starts, look for a newer version of that mod.

It stopped after you edited a file by hand

A damaged ServerSettings.ini or prospect file can stop the start. Undo your change, or restore the file from a backup: How to restore only some files or one area of your map from a backup.

It stops with no clear reason

Look at Overview. If a card says This server ran out of memory, see How much RAM does an Icarus server need?

Still stuck

  1. Click Download log in the console's menu, or copy the last 50 to 100 lines.
  2. Open a ticket with it: How to open a support ticket.
