The Console of a PlayNHost DayZ server shows what the server prints: the update check, the start command, the [pnh-dayz] lines about the map and mods, and the game's own output up to Mission read. and after. It does not take commands: the DayZ server reads nothing typed into it. Admin commands go through BattlEye RCON instead.
Read the Console
- Open your server in the panel and click the Console tab.
- Scroll to the top of the last start and read down to
Mission read. - When something went wrong, copy the last 50 to 100 lines into a support ticket.
What the lines mean, in the order they come:
[STARTUP]and[UPDATE]lines, with Steam's own lines between them: the update check.[pnh-dayz]lines: what PlayNHost did before the game started, such asMap set to ...or a missing mod folder.[STARTUP]: Starting server with the following startup command:and the command.- The game's own lines, with
Mission read.when players can join.
Why typed commands do nothing
The DayZ server has no command console that reads input from the panel, so typed lines go nowhere. That is also why the panel's DayZ schedules contain no chat warnings: there is no console command to send them. For admin commands, use one of these:
- Kick and ban: the Active players card on Overview, through RCON. How to kick and ban players on your DayZ server
- Messages, the ban list and more: a BattlEye RCON tool connected with your RCON Port and RCON Password. BattlEye's documentation lists the commands, for example
say -1followed by a message to everyone. How to become admin on your DayZ server - Restart, stop, backups and wipes: the buttons and Quick Tasks of the panel.
Where are the log files?
The server writes its log files into the profiles folder, which you open in Files. Extra Startup Parameters decides which logs are written. The default -dologs -adminlog -netlog -freezecheck turns on, in the words of Bohemia's server configuration page:
-dologs: all log messages in the server's.RPTfile.-adminlog: the admin log, a file ending in.ADM. Bohemia's Administration Logs page says it records connects and disconnects, chat, hits and deaths, to help you find cheaters and rule breakers.-netlog: network traffic logging.-freezecheck: stops the server and writes a dump file when it has been frozen for more than five minutes.
Removing one of the first three stops that log being written. Download a log with Download file in its menu. Backups include profiles, so old logs are in your backups too.
