A mod does not load on your DayZ server

DayZUpdated Nov 3, 20264 min read

When a mod does not load on your PlayNHost DayZ server, the most likely cause is that the folder name in the Workshop tab list does not match a folder in the top folder under Files exactly. Restart the server and read the [pnh-dayz] lines in the Console: they name the mod and what is wrong.

Read what the Console says

  1. Open your server in the panel and click Restart.
  2. Open the Console tab and look for lines that start with [pnh-dayz], just before [STARTUP]: Starting server with the following startup command:.
  3. Match the line to a fix below.

Servers created before PlayNHost added these checks print no [pnh-dayz] lines. On those, compare each name on the Workshop tab with the folders in Files by hand.

There is no folder with that name

[pnh-dayz] WARNING @cf is in your mod list, but there is no @cf folder in the top folder under Files, so it will not load.

  • The folder is not in the top folder. It must sit next to serverDZ.cfg, not inside another folder. Move it there in Files.
  • The zip held a folder inside a folder, such as @cf/@cf. Move the inner folder up, or zip the mod again from inside.
  • The name differs. @CF and @cf are two different names on the server. Write the name in the list exactly as the folder is called.

The folder was renamed to lowercase

[pnh-dayz] WARNING @CF is in your mod list, but its folder is called @cf (Make Mod Files Lowercase renames it). Write it as @cf on the Workshop page.

Make Mod Files Lowercase renamed the folder. Change the entry on the Workshop tab to the lowercase name, click Save and restart.

The mod's files have capital letters

Mods copied from Windows can have file names in capitals, and the server runs Linux, where the case of a name matters. Turn on Make Mod Files Lowercase under Settings, Game Settings, for one start. The Console says Making mod @cf files/folders lowercase... for each listed mod. Write every mod's name in lowercase in the lists, then switch the setting off again.

You listed a Steam Workshop ID

An entry such as @1559212036 shows Will not download on the Workshop tab. DayZ servers on PlayNHost cannot download from the Steam Workshop yet. Upload the mod's folder and list its folder name: How to add mods to your DayZ server.

The panel refuses the name

The Workshop tab only accepts names that start with @ and have no spaces. A folder called @Community Framework must be renamed in Files first, for example to @cf. Letters, numbers, dot, dash and underscore are allowed.

The mod needs another mod

Many mods need a framework mod to load. Read the mod's Steam Workshop page for its required items, upload those folders too, and list them in Mods.

Players are refused instead

If the server starts with the mod but players are kicked when they join, the problem is the key or the mod version: Players are kicked for mod signatures on your DayZ server.
