Check the Oxide (uMod) switch on the Modding tab says On, restart, and read the Oxide lines at the top of the start in the Console. They say whether Oxide was applied and, if not, why.
Read the Console
Restart the server and watch the first lines:
| Console line | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Oxide applied. Plugins in oxide/plugins will load with the server. | Oxide is running | Check the plugin's folder and its own errors below |
Could not download Oxide. | The download failed this time | Restart once more |
The Oxide download could not be unpacked. | The download was damaged | Restart once more |
Oxide is switched on, but this server was installed before Oxide was and Reinstall the server to add it. | Your server is older than the Oxide switch | Download your serverconfig.xml first (a reinstall puts back the game's stock copy), then open a ticket: support reinstalls it for you, after a backup |
| No Oxide lines at all | Oxide is switched off | Switch it on on the Modding tab |
Each failure ends with STARTING WITHOUT OXIDE - plugins in oxide/plugins will NOT load. The server still starts, without plugins.
Other causes
- Wrong folder: plugins go in
oxide/plugins, as.csfiles. TheModsfolder is for other mods. - A brand new game update: Oxide may not have caught up yet. It usually releases the same day. Switch Oxide off until it has, then on again.
- An old plugin: many 7 Days to Die plugins were last updated years ago and may not compile on the current game. The plugin's error is in the game's log: open Files, then
logs, thenlatest.log. Oxide also keeps its own logs inoxide/logs. - Players cannot join once Oxide is on: switch EasyAntiCheat off on Settings, Game Settings. Oxide patches a game file, so the server needs EasyAntiCheat off, and players start their game with it off too.
