Players only need the IP and the Port of your Project Zomboid server. The panel shows both on the Play with friends card and together as the Server Address on the Overview page, written as ip:port. Your server has two more ports that you never type: one the game uses for its own network traffic and one for the remote console (RCON).
The three ports
| Port | What it is for | Who uses it |
|---|---|---|
| The main port, shown as Port on the card | Players connect here | Players |
| The second port, listed with No description on Ports & Network | The game's own UDP (RakNet) connection | The game, automatically |
| RCON Port under Game Settings (read only) | The remote console: the player list and the actions on the Active players card | The panel |
The console prints the first two when the server is ready: Server is listening on port ... (for Steam connection) and port ... (for UDPRakNet connection) and Clients should use ... port for connections. The numbers are the ones allocated to your server, so they are not 16261 and 16262 as in the game's own documentation.
Where to see them
- Open Ports & Network in the left menu. The page lists the ports of your server: How to find and change your server's ports and IP address.
- Settings, then Game Settings shows the RCON Port row.

Good to know
- The ports are assigned by PlayNHost. You do not open or forward anything.
- The RCON Password is also under Game Settings. Anyone who has the password and the port can run admin commands, so keep it private: How to change the RCON password of your Project Zomboid server.
- If a friend cannot connect, check that they typed the main port and not another one: Players cannot join your Project Zomboid server.
