Type the item type IDs you do not want into Banned Item IDs under Settings, then Game Settings, separated by commas, for example Base.Pistol,Base.Katana, and restart. Those items never spawn as loot. Items already in the world, in containers or in players' bags are not removed.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Game Settings.
- In Banned Item IDs, type the IDs in the form
Module.Item, separated by commas. A space after a comma is accepted. Use letters, digits,_and.only, up to 2000 characters. - Leave the field to save it, then restart.

The panel writes the list into the game's LootItemRemovalList at every start. The Console does not echo it, so check the row after you save.
Find an item ID
An ID is the module name, a dot and the item's name, such as Base.Axe. The game's own additem command uses the same form: Use: /additem "username" "module.item" count. Example: /additem "rj" Base.Axe 5 (from the game's help in the Console). Item IDs are in the game's item scripts. Mods have their own module names.
Good to know
- This is not a way to take items from players. It only stops new loot of that kind from spawning.
- A wrong ID does not break anything: it just matches nothing. A value the panel does not accept stays as it was, and the row says why.
- For the amount of each kind of loot, see How to change the loot settings of your Project Zomboid server.
