You can reset the Nether or the End on its own, and keep the overworld exactly as it is. On the Worlds tab, open the world's menu and choose Reset the Nether or Reset the End. A new one is generated the next time a player goes there. A new End comes with a new ender dragon.
Reset one dimension
- Open your server in the panel, click the Modding tab, then Worlds, then Your worlds.
- Open the menu of the world (the three dots at the end of its row).
- Choose Reset the Nether or Reset the End.
Read the window, Reset the Nether of or Reset the End of and the world's name:
- The Nether:
Everything built in the Nether is deleted. A new Nether is generated the next time a player goes there. The overworld and the End are not touched. - The End:
Everything built in the End is deleted. A new End, with a new dragon, is generated the next time a player goes there. The overworld and the Nether are not touched. - For the world your server loads, it adds
This is the world your server loads. If the server is running, it stops while this happens and starts again afterwards.
- The Nether:
- Click Reset the Nether or Reset the End in the window.
The panel then says the dimension was reset, and that the server is starting again, or that it is generated the next time a player goes there. If that dimension was never visited, it says has not been generated yet, so there was nothing to reset.
What changes
- All blocks, builds, chests and mobs in that dimension are gone. A new one is generated from the world's seed.
- The overworld and its builds stay as they are, and so do the Nether portals in it. Going through one generates a matching portal in the new Nether.
Before you reset
- Take a backup on Backups, or download the world, in case you want the old dimension back. No backup is taken by the reset. See How to back up, restore and reset your Minecraft world.
- Tell players to bring their things home and leave that dimension first.
- A backup can also bring back only one area of a dimension later: How to restore only some files or part of your Minecraft world.
Good to know
- On Paper, Purpur, Spigot and Folia the Nether and the End are folders beside the world, ending in
_netherand_the_end. On other server types they are inside the world folder. The panel finds them either way. - To reset the whole world, see How to reset your Minecraft world.
- You need permission to delete files to reset.
