Switch Enable remote console on in Settings, Server Properties (Java), and click Save & restart. The panel gives the remote console a port of its own and a password, and shows the address under Remote console password as RCON: followed by the address and port. Put that address and the password into your bot or tool.
You only need this for an outside tool, such as a Discord bot or a monitoring service. The panel's own Console tab does not use RCON.
Turn it on
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- Under Config files, click Server Properties (Java).
- Switch Enable remote console on.
- Optional: type your own Remote console password. Make it long and use it nowhere else: anyone holding it can run any command on your server. If you leave it empty, the panel fills in a random one for you.
- Click Save & restart.
When the server is back, the line under Remote console password says RCON: and the address. The port also appears on Ports & Network, named Remote console (RCON).
Connect your tool
In your bot or tool, enter:
- Host and port: the address after
RCON:, which is in the formhost:port. Some tools ask for the two in separate boxes. - Password: the Remote console password.
Commands sent over RCON are the same as in the Console, without a slash, for example list or say Hello.
If it does not work
- Turning it on is refused with a message that the plan has no extra ports or uses all of them: the remote console needs a port of its own. Remove a port you no longer use on Ports & Network, or contact support if your plan has no extra ports.
- The page says
The remote console has no port of its own yet, so tools outside cannot reach it.Turn it off and save, then turn it on and save again. - Your tool is refused: check the password, and that you restarted after saving.
- You cannot switch it on: turning on the remote console takes a port, so you need the Add ports permission as well as Edit and rename.
Turn it off
Switch Enable remote console off and click Save & restart. The port stays on your server, still named Remote console (RCON), and is used again if you turn it back on. You can remove it on Ports & Network if you do not need it: How to add a port to your Minecraft server.
Good to know
- Change the password if you think someone else has it, then restart and update your tool.
