Open the Console and read the last lines. A server that is installing an update or loading a big world takes longer than usual. The server is ready when the Console shows [Session] 'HostOnline' (up)! and the badge says Online.
Step 1: read the Console
- Open your server in the panel and click the Console tab.

- Look at what it is doing:
| The Console shows | What it means |
|---|---|
| Steam download lines | An update is being installed. Wait. |
Update failed, retrying without the old build record | The server is repairing its files. Wait. |
[server] Load deserialization took ... | The world has loaded. The ready line follows. |
| The name of a bad value | A setting stops the start. See Your Enshrouded server will not start after a settings change. |
| Nothing new for several minutes | Go to step 2. |
Step 2: stop it and try again
- Click Stop. If it does not stop, use the force-stop option: see How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- Click Start again and watch the Console.
Step 3: validate the files
- Click the Settings tab, then Game Settings, then Show advanced (2).
- Turn on Validate. Check that Auto Update is on too: Validate only runs as part of the update.
- Start the server. It checks every file against Steam, which is slower. Turn Validate off afterwards.
Still stuck
Open a ticket with the last 50 to 100 lines of the Console and the time. See also How to fix a server that will not start.
