What a player may do depends on the password they joined with. Check the switches under Players who join with the Server Password on Gameplay Settings, save and restart.
Fix it
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- Under Config files, click Gameplay Settings.
- Scroll to Players who join with the Server Password.

- Switch on what your players need:
| The player cannot | Switch on |
|---|---|
| Open chests, crafting stations or storage | Can open chests and stations |
| Build or remove blocks in a base | Can build in bases |
| Dig or build outside bases | Can change the world |
| Place flame altars or upgrade a base | Can grow bases |
- Click Save & restart. The change applies when the server starts, and players must rejoin.
Check which password they used
A player who joined with the Admin password has every permission. If an admin can do it and a friend cannot, the difference is the group. Make sure your friend uses the Server Password, not a password you set up for something else.
Good to know
- A new server lets these players open chests, build in bases, change the world and grow bases, but not kick and ban.
- If you changed the switches by hand in
enshrouded_server.json, look at the page again. It shows what the file holds. - See How to choose what your Enshrouded players can do.
