How to become an admin on your Avorion server

Avorion admins are granted from the server console and stored in the admin list inside your galaxy folder.

1. Join the server once

The server needs to know the player before it can grant them anything, so have them connect first and stay connected.

2. Grant admin from the panel console

1. Open the Console tab in the Game Panel.
2. Run /admin -a PlayerName.
3. The console confirms the change, and the player is added to the admin list in your galaxy folder.

To take rights away, run /admin -r PlayerName.

3. Useful console commands

• /save writes the galaxy to disk. Run it before a planned restart.
• /kick PlayerName and /ban PlayerName for moderation.
• /status reports the server state.
• /stop shuts the server down cleanly. Start it again from the panel afterwards.

Commands typed into the panel console run as the server itself, so they work whether or not you are in game.

4. The admin file

Grants are written to the admin list in the same folder as server.ini. You can edit it by hand while the server is stopped, but the console avoids the formatting mistakes that make the file fail to load.

5. If admin does not work

• Names are exact, including capital letters. Copy the name from the console rather than typing it.
• The change belongs to the galaxy. If you switched galaxy, the admin list came with the old one.
• Restart the server after editing the file by hand.

Open a ticket with the console output if the grant is confirmed but the player still has no rights.
