PLAY URBAN TERROR

Urban Terror is FrozenSand's free tactical shooter, built on their own ioquake3 engine with a motto of fun over realism. Players on Windows, Linux or macOS join without Quake III Arena. The server starts in dedicated 2 mode, which reports to the official Urban Terror master list, and IP and port joins work too.

GAMETYPES, MAPS AND MAPCYCLE.TXT

Pick the map, gametype, time limit and friendly fire in Settings, and the panel rewrites those lines in q3ut4/server.cfg on each start. A map name that does not exist stops the server from starting, so check the spelling first. The install also creates mapcycle.txt next to server.cfg, which you edit in Files.

Is this free to play?
Yes, Urban Terror is entirely free and does not require owning Quake III Arena.
Can I add bots?
Yes. The Bots field in Settings sets bot_minplayers from 0 to 16, and the server has bots enabled in server.cfg. We have not tested how well bots play on each Urban Terror map, so treat them as filler for quiet hours and leave the field at 0 for human-only matches.
Can I manage the server with RCON?
Yes. Set an RCON Password in Settings, up to 20 characters, and the panel writes it into server.cfg as rconpassword; leave it empty and RCON stays off. For a quick round reset there is also the Restart Match quick task, which sends map_restart without restarting the server process.
