PLAY TEAM FORTRESS CLASSIC

Team Fortress Classic is Valve's 1999 remake of the Team Fortress mod for Quake, with classes from Medic to Spy to Demolition Man fighting as teams. Your server starts as plain HLDS with the tfc mod, without Metamod or AMX Mod X. AlliedModders publishes an AMX Mod X addon pack for Team Fortress Classic, and you upload it yourself into tfc/addons over SFTP. In the panel you set the default map and Auto Update; deeper tuning lives in server.cfg under Files.

Is this Team Fortress 2?
No. This is Team Fortress Classic, which Valve released in 1999 and which runs on the GoldSrc dedicated server, HLDS. Team Fortress 2 is a different Steam game with its own page and plans on this site. Players joining this server need Team Fortress Classic in their Steam library, not TF2.
Can I install AMX Mod X on a Team Fortress Classic server?
Yes, by hand. It is not preinstalled and our panel has no installer for it. AlliedModders publishes a Team Fortress Classic addon pack: upload Metamod into tfc/addons/metamod, point liblist.gam at it as their manual install guide describes for SteamCMD servers, then add AMX Mod X and its plugins over SFTP.
Does the server update itself?
Only if you ask it to. Auto Update is a switch on the Settings page and it starts off. Switch it on and SteamCMD checks Valve's HLDS for an update every time the server starts; leave it off and the server keeps the build it was installed with.
