RimWorld Together Server Hosting

RimWorld Together is the mod that puts other colonies on your world map, trading, raiding and occasionally visiting. It needs a server in the middle, and that server is what turns a single player storyteller into a shared one.

Asked

Questions

RimWorld Together questions we get asked most. Support can take the rest.

What is RimWorld Together?
A community multiplayer mod for RimWorld. Each player runs their own colony, and the server connects those colonies on a shared world map so you can trade, visit and raid each other. Everyone needs RimWorld and the mod installed on their own machine.
Do all players need the same mod list?
Yes, in practice. RimWorld multiplayer is sensitive to mismatched mods, so agree a list, share it, and make sure everyone loads the same one. That is a client side agreement rather than a server setting.
How much RAM does the server need?
Very little. The server coordinates colonies rather than simulating them, so the heavy work happens on each player's own machine. 2GB comfortably handles twenty players, and the larger tiers exist for player count rather than for load.
Can it really hold a hundred players?
That is what the top tier is configured for. Whether a hundred colonies makes for a good shared world is a different question, and most groups find something between twenty and forty more manageable.
Can I pin a mod version?
Yes. The version field in the panel takes latest or a specific release, which matters when the mod updates and your group's clients have not.
