How to connect your own RCON tool to your The Isle server

Switch on RCON for your own tools on the Settings tab, set an RCON password for your own tools of 12 characters or more, and restart the server. Your tool then connects to the server's RCON port with that password.

You only need this for tools outside the panel. The panel's own player tools, the Console and the Active players card work without it.

Switch it on

1. Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
2. Type a password in RCON password for your own tools: 12 to 64 characters, using letters, digits, - and _.
3. Switch on RCON for your own tools.
4. Restart the server.

Connect your tool

Your tool needs three things:

• Address: your server's address, as on the Ports & Network page.
• Port: after the restart, the Console shows [playnhost] RCON for outside tools is on, port and the number. Use that port. On Ports & Network it is one of your server's extra ports, next to the primary one.
• Password: the RCON password you set.

Safety

• After 10 wrong passwords from one address within 10 minutes, that address is refused for 10 minutes.
• Give the password only to tools and people you trust: RCON can kick, ban and change the running game.
• To close RCON again, switch RCON for your own tools off and restart. Nothing then listens on the RCON port.

Good to know

• If the Console says RCON for outside tools is off: set an RCON password of 12 or more letters and digits first, check the password and restart.
• If the panel refuses the password, check its length and characters. Spaces and other symbols are not allowed.
• The password is only for your own tools. It is not the join password and not the panel password.
