Switch Allow flight on in Settings, Server Properties (Java), then click Save & restart. Without it, Minecraft kicks survival players who stay in the air for a few seconds, which also catches players flying with a mod that adds flight.
Turn it on
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- Under Config files, click Server Properties (Java).
- Switch Allow flight on. The panel describes it as
Allows flight in survival mode. Without it, players who fly are kicked for cheating. Some mods and plugins need this on. - Click Save & restart.

When you need it
- A modpack or mod adds jetpacks, flying machines or other ways to fly in survival.
- A plugin's own guide tells you to turn it on. As the panel says, some mods and plugins need it.
It does not give anyone the ability to fly. It only stops the server kicking players who fly because a mod lets them.
Good to know
- Allow flight is off by default.
- On recent versions, the game rules Player movement check and Elytra movement check decide whether the server checks movement and elytra flight for cheating, and the panel notes that some plugins need them off. See How to change game rules on your Minecraft server.
