How to restart your Discord bot on a schedule

Some bots slowly use more memory the longer they run, or lose their connection after days online. A scheduled restart is a simple safety net while you fix the cause.

Create the schedule

1. Open your server in the panel and click Quick Tasks in the left menu.
2. Under All tasks, Default tasks, find Send Restart.
3. Drag it into the area labelled Drop a task here to schedule it, or open its menu and choose Schedule.
4. Set when it runs, for example every day at 04:00, when few people use the bot.
5. Turn the switch on to enable the schedule, and click Run now once to test it.

Back up first

When it helps

When it does not

A restart hides a problem, it does not solve it. If you need one every few hours, find the leak or the stall in your code.
