Rate limits and connection errors

  • 429 Too Many Requests: your bot is sending too fast. The library normally waits and retries by itself; reduce loops that edit many messages or add many reactions.
  • ECONNRESET, Connect Timeout Error, getaddrinfo: a short network problem between the bot and Discord. A good library reconnects. If it never recovers, restart the server.
  • JavaScript heap out of memory or the server stopping on its own: the bot used all its memory. See How much RAM does a Discord bot need.

Code errors

Cannot find module 'x' means a package is missing: add it to package.json (or the Extra npm packages field). ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'x' means a line is missing from requirements.txt. For a server that stops by itself see Why your Discord bot keeps stopping.
