How to Become an Admin on Your Wreckfest 2 Server

Wreckfest 2 handles admin differently from most games. There is no Steam ID list to edit.

The first player to join is the admin

On a fresh dedicated server, administrator control of the session goes to the first player who connects. So the practical routine is:

1. Start the server from the panel.
2. Join it yourself before sharing the address.
3. You now hold the host controls for that session.

If someone else got in first, restart the server from the panel and join before they do.

The panel console is the real admin tool

The Console section for your server is attached directly to the server process, so it outranks any in-session admin. Use it to:

• List and remove players.
• Change the event or level.
• Set the server description.
• Add AI drivers so a quiet server still has a full grid.
• Read exactly what the server is doing while you test something.

Run help to list the commands your build supports. Wreckfest 2 is a young title and its command set changes between updates, so the console's own list is more reliable than any guide.

In-session controls

The player holding admin gets the host controls in the lobby: starting the event, changing the track and removing players. These apply to the current session.

Running a public server

• Put your rules in the server description. It is the text every player sees before joining.
• Keep the panel console open while the server is busy. It is the only place a full picture of joins, leaves and errors appears.
• Restarting the server resets who holds admin, so plan restarts for when you can be first in.

If a command does not work

• Run help in the panel console for the authoritative list.
• The server must be running for the console to accept anything.
• Check the panel console output rather than the game, since errors are reported there and not in the session.
