How to Fix a Satisfactory Server That Will Not Connect

Satisfactory's Server Manager gives very little detail when something is wrong, so start with the panel console, which does.

The Server Manager says offline

1. Open Console in the panel and confirm the server has finished starting. On a fresh install the first start downloads the whole game, which takes a while.
2. Check the address. It must be the IP and the SERVER_PORT value from the server overview, not the reliable messaging port.
3. Delete the entry in the Server Manager and add it again. A failed first attempt is cached and the client keeps showing offline afterwards.
4. Restart the Satisfactory client completely.

The server will not let you claim it

• A server that is already claimed will never show the claim prompt again. If you did not claim it, someone with the address did.
• If you have lost the admin password, download your saves from .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/ and open a ticket to have the server returned to an unclaimed state.

Players cannot join after an update

Client and server must be on the same version and the same branch. If you play on the experimental branch, the server has to be on experimental too. Restart the server so it pulls the current build, then restart the clients.

The world will not load

• A save made with mods will not open on a server without those mods. Reinstall the mods or load an earlier save.
• A save from a newer game version will not open on an older server. Update the server first.
• Check Manage Saves in the Server Manager for the list the server can actually see. If your file is not there, it is in the wrong folder or was renamed on upload.

The server runs out of memory or stutters

Satisfactory memory use grows with factory size, not player count. A very large late game factory is far more demanding than a full server of players on a small base. If the console shows the process being stopped for memory, the factory has outgrown the plan and needs a larger one.

What to send support

Open a ticket with your IP and port, the last hundred lines of the console, whether the Server Manager shows offline or fails at the claim step, and your mod list if you run any.
