How to connect to your Clone Hero server

Clone Hero online play uses a standalone server that runs on its own, separate from anybody's game. This article covers joining the one you rent from us.

1. Find your server address

1. Log in to the Client Area at https://playnhost.com/billing and open your Clone Hero service.
2. Note the IP / Hostname and Port. Clone Hero uses 14242 by default, and your service may use another port.

The address you share is IP:Port.

2. Start the server

1. Open your server in the Game Panel at https://panel.playnhost.com and click Start.
2. Watch the Console until the server reports it is listening.

3. Join from the game

1. Launch Clone Hero.
2. Open the Online section of the main menu.
3. Choose the option to join a server by address.
4. Enter your IP:Port and connect. Enter the password if the server has one.

4. What to give your friends

• The IP:Port address.
• The password, if you set one.
• The songs you plan to play. The server does not send charts to anyone, so everyone needs the same song files installed. See the songs guide in this category before your first session.

5. If the connection fails

• Check the port. Clone Hero needs the exact port from the panel.
• Confirm the server shows as running in the panel and the console is not reporting an error.
• Make sure everyone is on the same Clone Hero version. A player on an older build cannot join.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with your IP, port and the error text if it continues.
