How to Fix an Operation: Harsh Doorstop Server Missing From the Browser

A server that runs but is invisible is usually a browser problem rather than a server problem. Find out which one you have before changing anything.

1. Prove it is joinable

At the main menu press tilde and run:

open YOUR_IP:YOUR_SERVER_PORT

If you get in, the server is fine and only the listing is missing.

2. Check the browser filters

• Community hosted servers appear under the community or custom tab, not the official list.
• Clear the search box and reset the player count and ping filters.
• Untick the filters that hide modded and password protected servers. A modded server is hidden by default for many players.

3. Check the query port

The browser talks to QUERY_PORT, not SERVER_PORT. Both are allocated to your server and shown on the server overview. If a port was changed by hand in Game.ini, put it back and restart.

4. Read the startup in the console

Open Console in the panel and read from the top of the last start. The server reports:

• Mods it downloaded, and any that failed.
• The map it is loading, and any map name it could not resolve.
• RCON starting, if enabled.

A server that cannot load its first map never finishes starting, and therefore never registers.

5. Give it time after a start

A first start, or the first start after adding mods, downloads content before the map loads. That can take a long time. Watch the console rather than the browser.

6. After a game update

A server on an old build is not shown to updated clients. Restart it so it pulls the new version, and update mods before putting their maps back in rotation.

7. Set a distinctive name

A default or empty server name makes the server almost impossible to find by search even when it is listed correctly. Set one in Game.ini.
