How to become an admin on your Abiotic Factor server

Abiotic Factor has no text console for admin work. Moderators are listed in a file called Admin.ini, and the tools themselves are a panel inside the game.

1. Get your Steam64 ID

This is the 17 digit number that identifies your Steam account. Any Steam ID lookup site will convert your profile URL into it. The account name will not work.

2. Add yourself to Admin.ini

1. Stop the server in the Game Panel.
2. Open the Files tab and browse to the config folder under AbioticFactor/Saved/Config/. On a Linux build the folder inside is LinuxServer, on a Windows build it is WindowsServer.
3. Open Admin.ini, or create it with that exact name if it does not exist.
4. Add these lines, one Moderator= line per person:

1. Save the file and start the server.

3. Use the admin tools in game

1. Join the server.
2. Press Escape to open the menu.
3. Open Player Management. Listed moderators see an Admin tab.
4. From there you can kick, ban and manage the players currently connected.

4. The admin password

The server also accepts an admin password set with the -AdminPassword startup parameter. Setting it is what allows the tools to be unlocked in game when your ID is not in the file. Treat it like any other password and do not post it in your community chat.

5. If the Admin tab is missing

• Check the ID is the 17 digit Steam64 ID and has no spaces around it.
• Check the section header is spelled [Moderators] exactly.
• Confirm you edited the config folder for the build your server runs, not the other one.
• Restart the server. The file is read at boot only.

If the tab still does not appear, open a ticket and include the contents of your Admin.ini with the ID left in.
