Do I need to own Hytale to rent a server?
Yes. Every Hytale server runs on a Hytale account that owns the game, and you sign your server in with the account you play on. You need it to play anyway. We never see your password: you approve the server on Hytale's own website.
Why does my new server say Starting?
It is waiting for you to sign in. Open your server's page: the Overview shows a Sign in button and a code. Approve it with your Hytale account and the server downloads the game and starts.
What happens if my sign-in runs out?
Your sign-in is renewed every time the server starts, and the daily restart starts it every morning. If the server is left off for more than 30 days, it shows a new sign-in link in the console the next time you start it.
Can I change the view distance and other game settings?
Yes. Server name, message of the day and password are under Settings. Everything else, including MaxViewRadius, is in Server/config.json, which you can edit in the file manager. Restart the server after a change.
Where do Hytale mods go?
Upload the mod's .zip or .jar file to the Server/mods folder with the file manager or SFTP, then restart.
