How to Fix a The Front Server That Will Not Show or Start

Start with the panel Console. The Front logs its startup there, and it is the difference between guessing and knowing.

The server is not in the browser

• Look under the Community or custom tab. Community hosted servers never appear in the official list.
• Clear the filters. The defaults hide password protected servers and empty servers, which describes most new servers.
• Give it time. A first start generates the world before the server advertises itself, and that takes several minutes.
• After a game update the server has to be on the new build to be visible to updated clients. Restart it so it pulls the update.

The settings keep reverting

The Front rewrites its config on shutdown. Any edit made while the server is running is overwritten with no warning. The correct order is always:

1. Stop the server.
2. Edit the config.
3. Start the server.

On a brand new server, let it start once so the config is created before you edit it. Uploading a prepared file before the first boot is overwritten by the defaults.

The server will not start after an edit

Read the console. A malformed line in the config is the usual cause. Common mistakes:

• Missing quotes around ServerName or ServerTitle.
• A missing trailing semicolon on ServerAdminAccounts.
• A section header such as [BaseServerConfig] accidentally deleted.

Restore your downloaded copy, or delete the config so the server writes a fresh default one on the next start, then edit it properly with the server stopped.

Players connect and are dropped

• Confirm the ports in the config still match the ports allocated to your server on the overview page.
• Check whether a password was set on the server but not shared with players.
• A client on a different game version is refused. Everyone needs to be on the same build.

Back up before you change anything

Stop the server and download the config folder and the save folder from Files. Those two together are everything you need to put the server back exactly as it was.

Open a ticket with your IP and ports, the last hundred lines of console output, and the contents of your config file pasted as text rather than as a screenshot.
