How to Connect to Your Space Engineers Server

Space Engineers servers are found through the in-game browser, which is filtered heavily by default. The reliable route is a Steam favourite, which puts the server at the top of your list every time.

Find your address

Open your server at https://panel.playnhost.com. The overview shows the IP and the ports assigned to SERVER_PORT, STEAM_PORT and REMOTEAPI_PORT. Players use the IP with SERVER_PORT.

Join from the game browser

1. Launch Space Engineers and choose Join.
2. Open the Dedicated tab.
3. Turn off the filters that hide servers, particularly the mod filter and the friends only option, then search for your server name.
4. Select it and join, with the password if one is set.

Add it to Steam favourites

1. In Steam, open View, then Game Servers.
2. On the Favorites tab, click Add a Server.
3. Enter IP:PORT using the SERVER_PORT value.
4. The server then appears under Favorites in the Space Engineers browser.

The first join downloads mods

If the world runs workshop mods, your client downloads all of them before you can enter. On a heavily modded world this takes several minutes on the first connect. It is not a hang.

If you cannot connect

• Check the panel console. Space Engineers logs the world loading and then reports the server is running. A large world takes a while.
• Confirm you used SERVER_PORT, not the Steam port or the remote API port.
• A version mismatch after an update shows as the server being invisible or refusing the join. Restart the server so it updates.
• If the server runs mods that have been removed from the workshop, the world may fail to load at all. The console names the mod.
