Longvinter is configured with a single Game.ini file in the config folder under Longvinter/Saved/Config/. On a Linux build the folder inside is LinuxServer.
1. Open the file
- Stop the server in the Game Panel and wait for it to report offline.
- Open the Files tab and browse to the config folder.
- Open
Game.ini.
The settings are split across two section headers. The server identity sits under the advanced sessions section, and the gameplay rules under the game mode section. Each line has to stay under its own header.
2. Server identity
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
ServerName | The island name shown in the browser. |
MaxPlayers | Player slots. |
Password | Password to join. Letters and numbers only, and empty means open. |
ServerMOTD | The message shown to players when they arrive. |
CommunityWebsite | A link shown with your server. |
ServerTag | A short label for your server. |
AdminSteamID | The IDs that get admin rights. See the admin guide in this category. |
3. Gameplay rules
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
PVP | Turns player versus player on or off. |
TentDecay | Whether tents decay over time. |
MaxTents | Tents each player may place. |
ChestRespawnTime | Seconds before world chests refill. |
4. Save and restart
- Save the file.
- Start the server and read the console for the island name it loaded.
- Join once to confirm the password behaves as expected.
5. If a setting does not apply
- You edited while the server was running. Stop it first, every time.
- The line is under the wrong section header, so it is ignored without an error.
- The password contains a character the game will not accept. Stick to letters and numbers.
Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with the setting name and the value you want if it will not hold.
