How to become an admin on your Don't Starve Together server

Admin rights in Don't Starve Together are a list of Klei user IDs in a plain text file.

1. Find your Klei user ID

It starts with KU_ followed by a short code. You can see it on your Klei account page, and it is printed in the server console whenever you connect.

2. Add yourself to adminlist.txt

1. Stop the server in the Game Panel.
2. Open the Files tab and go to the cluster folder, the one containing cluster.ini.
3. Open adminlist.txt, creating it if it does not exist.
4. Put one ID per line, nothing else.
5. Save and start the server.

console_enabled = true must be set under [MISC] in cluster.ini or the commands are refused.

3. Use the console in game

• Press ~ to open the console.
• c_save() forces a save. Run it before any risky change.
• c_rollback(1) rolls the world back one save. This is the single most useful admin command in the game.
• c_shutdown() saves and stops the server. Start it again from the panel.
• c_listallplayers() shows who is connected with their user IDs.
• c_kick("KU_example") removes a player.

Commands typed into the Console tab in the Game Panel run on the shard that has focus, so use the panel console for c_save and c_shutdown before a restart.

4. Whitelist and ban lists

• whitelist.txt in the cluster folder limits the server to listed IDs.
• blocklist.txt keeps listed IDs out.
• Both use the same one ID per line format as the admin list.

5. If admin does not work

• Check the ID starts with KU_ and has no spaces around it.
• Check the file is in the cluster folder, not in a shard folder.
• Restart the server. The list is read at boot.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with the contents of your admin list if commands are still refused.
