Nightingale has no admin list of account IDs. Control is by password, set in the server settings file, and anyone who knows it becomes an admin.
Set the admin password
- Stop the server.
- In the panel open Files and edit
ServerSettings.ini. If it does not exist, copyExampleServerSettings.inito that name first, because the example file is not read. - Set the admin password to something long, and different from the connection password.
- Save and start the server.
Log in as admin
- Join the server.
- Use the game's admin login, entering the admin password you set.
- Admin commands become available for that session.
Because admin is granted by password rather than by account, treat the password the way you would treat a root password. Anyone you share it with has full control of the realm, and the only way to revoke it is to change the password and restart.
What admin gives you
- Removing disruptive players from the realm.
- Server side commands for putting right something a bug has broken.
- Control over the realm settings that were fixed when the world was created.
The panel console
The Console section for your server in the panel is attached to the server process. It shows joins, leaves and errors, and it accepts server level input without any password. When you are diagnosing a problem, read it alongside whatever you see in game.
If the admin login is refused
- The password is case sensitive and must match the settings file exactly.
- Confirm you set the admin password and not the connection password.
- The server must have been restarted after the change.
- If the change vanished, you edited while the server was running. Stop first, then edit.
