How to become an admin on your Insurgency: Sandstorm server

Sandstorm admins are a list of Steam64 IDs in a plain text file. There is no password to share.

1. Get your Steam64 ID

This is the 17 digit number for your Steam account. Any Steam ID lookup site converts a profile URL into it, and the server console prints it when you connect.

2. Add yourself to Admins.txt

1. Stop the server in the Game Panel.
2. Open the Files tab and browse to Insurgency/Config/Server.
3. Open Admins.txt, creating it if it does not exist.
4. Add one ID per line and nothing else. No commas, no quotation marks.
5. Save and start the server.

3. Use admin commands

• Open the console in game and type the command.
• There are commands to kick and ban players, change the scenario and restart the round.
• Bans are written to Bans.json in the same folder, which you can edit while the server is stopped to remove one.

4. Moderating from the panel

The Console tab in the Game Panel accepts server commands directly and shows the log as it happens, including joins, leaves and admin actions. Use it when you need to act and are not in game.

5. If admin does not work

• Check the ID is the 17 digit Steam64 ID with no spaces around it.
• Check the file is in Insurgency/Config/Server and not in the saved config folder.
• Restart the server. The file is read at boot.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with the contents of your admin file if commands are still refused.
