How to become an admin on your Empyrion server

Empyrion admins are listed by Steam ID in adminconfig.yaml, with a permission level attached to each entry.

1. Get your Steam64 ID

This is the 17 digit number for your Steam account. It is also printed in the server console when you connect, which is the easiest place to copy it from.

2. Add yourself to adminconfig.yaml

1. Stop the server in the Game Panel.
2. Open the Files tab and open adminconfig.yaml. It sits next to dedicated.yaml unless AdminConfigFile points elsewhere.
3. Add an entry under Elevated:

1. Save and start the server.

The permission number sets how much the account can do. The sample file on your server lists the levels in comments, so read those before choosing one, and give moderators a lower level than yourself.

3. Use the admin console in game

• Press the console key in game to open the command line.
• help lists the commands your level allows.
• There are commands for teleporting, spawning, changing the time and managing players.
• The Console tab in the Game Panel accepts the same server commands without needing an account at all.

4. Bans and reserved slots

The same file holds the ban list and the reserved player list. Both use the same Steam ID format. Reserved players can join a full server, which is useful for keeping a slot for yourself.

5. If admin does not work

• YAML is strict. Keep the indentation exactly as the sample entry shows, and never use tabs.
• Check the ID is the 17 digit Steam64 ID.
• Restart the server. The file is read at boot, and the console reports a parse error if it could not read it.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with your admin file contents if commands are still refused.
