How to Become an Admin on Your Renown Server

Renown has two routes to admin. A Steam ID list, which is persistent, and an admin password, which is per session. Most servers use both.

Find your SteamID64

You need the 17 digit number beginning 7656119, not your display name. Read it from your Steam profile URL or use a SteamID lookup site.

Route 1: the admin list

1. Stop the server.
2. In the panel open Files and edit:

   Renown_Combat/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini

3. Add your ID to the admin list:

   AdminsSteamIDs=76561198000000000

   For several admins, repeat the key on its own line for each one.
4. Save and start the server.

This is the route to use for your staff team, because it survives restarts and does not involve sharing a password.

Route 2: the admin password

1. Set the admin password in the server's configuration or on the Startup Settings page, reachable from the server overview.
2. Join the server and open the in-game console.
3. Enter the admin password to authenticate.

Anyone who knows the password becomes an admin, so change it from the shipped default and change it again whenever someone leaves your team.

RCON

Renown supports RCON for moderation without being in game. Set the RCON port to the RCON_PORT value allocated to your server, shown on the server overview, and set a long RCON password.

Change the default RCON password before the server goes public. RCON is full control of the server, and the defaults are widely published.

What admin gives you

• Listing connected players with their IDs.
• Kicking and banning.
• Changing the map or restarting the round.
• Server broadcasts, for restart warnings.

If admin does not apply

• The server must be restarted after editing Game.ini.
• Each admin needs their own line in the list.
• Check the SteamID64 for typos. Renown does not report a bad ID.
• If your change vanished, you edited while the server was running.
