How to connect to your Insurgency server

InsurgencyUpdated Sep 24, 20262 min read

Insurgency runs on the Source engine, so it is joined by address. The console command is the route that always works.

1. Find your server address

  1. Log in to the Client Area at https://playnhost.com/billing and open your Insurgency service.
  2. Note the IP / Hostname and Port. Source servers normally use 27015, and your service may use another port.

2. Turn on the developer console

  1. In the game, open Options and enable the developer console.
  2. Press ~ to open it.

3. Connect

  1. Type connect 123.45.67.89:27015 with your own address and press Enter.
  2. If the server has a password, run password yourpassword in the console first.

4. Steam favourites

  1. Open the Steam client, click View, then Game Servers.
  2. On the Favorites tab click Add a Server and enter IP:Port.
  3. Select it and click Connect.

5. What to give your players

  • The connect IP:Port line, ready to paste.
  • The password, if you set one.
  • The server name for the community browser.

If the connection is refused, check that sv_lan is 0 in insurgency/cfg/server.cfg and that the server is running. Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with the console output if it continues.
