How to Become an Admin on Your V Rising Server

V Rising admin is a text file of Steam IDs on the server, plus a console command in game to authenticate.

Find your SteamID64

You need the 17 digit number beginning 7656119. Open your Steam profile in a browser and read it from the URL, or paste your profile link into a SteamID lookup site.

Add yourself to the admin list

1. Stop the server.
2. In the panel open Files and go to:

   save-data/Settings/adminlist.txt

3. Add one SteamID64 per line, nothing else:

   76561198000000000

4. Save and start the server.

banlist.txt sits alongside it and works the same way for bans.

Enable the console in game

1. In V Rising open Options, then General.
2. Turn on Console Enabled.
3. Join the server and press the backtick key, next to the 1 on most keyboards, to open the console.

Authenticate

In the console, run:

adminauth

You now have admin for this session. adminlogout drops it again. If adminauth reports that you are not an admin, your SteamID64 is not in the file or the server was not restarted after the edit.

Useful commands

• banuser <name or id> and unbanuser <name or id>.
• kick <name or id>.
• adminlist shows who is on the list.
• save forces a world save.
• shutdown stops the server cleanly.

Running commands from the panel

The panel Console section is attached to the server process, so anything V Rising accepts on its own console can be typed there without being in game. That is the fastest route for a shutdown or a forced save.

Admin slots

MaxConnectedAdmins in save-data/Settings/ServerHostSettings.json reserves slots so an admin can always get in on a full server. Raising it does not raise your total player slots.
