How to connect to your Icarus server

Icarus servers are found by session name rather than typed as an address. This article covers the join and what to give your group.

1. Know your session name

1. The session name is set in ServerSettings.ini as SessionName. See the settings guide in this category.
2. Your server address and ports are in the Client Area at https://playnhost.com/billing and on the server dashboard in the Game Panel.

2. Start the server

1. Open the server in the Game Panel at https://panel.playnhost.com and click Start.
2. Watch the Console. An Icarus server takes a while to load a prospect on first start.

3. Join from the game

1. Launch Icarus.
2. Choose to play on a dedicated server rather than a solo session.
3. Search the list for your session name.
4. Enter the join password if one is set, then connect.

4. What to give your group

• The exact session name, since that is what they search for.
• The join password, never the admin one.
• A note on which prospect is loaded, because an Icarus server runs one prospect at a time and everyone drops into the same one.

5. If the session does not appear

• Give it a few minutes after the server starts.
• Check that SessionName is set and is distinctive enough to search for.
• Confirm the server has actually loaded a prospect. A server with no prospect will not accept players. See the prospects guide in this category.
• Restart the server from the panel after a game update so it matches the clients.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with your session name and the console output if it stays missing.
