How to connect to your Astroneer server

Astroneer dedicated servers are joined by typing an address, not by browsing a list. This article covers where to find that address and how to use it.

1. Find your server address

1. Log in to the Client Area at https://playnhost.com/billing and open your Astroneer service.
2. Note the IP / Hostname and Port. Astroneer normally uses 8777.

The address you share is IP:Port, for example 123.45.67.89:8777.

2. Start the server

1. Open your server in the Game Panel at https://panel.playnhost.com and click Start.
2. Watch the Console. The first start creates the save and takes longer than later ones.
3. Wait until the console stops scrolling and the server reports it is running.

3. Join from the game

1. Launch Astroneer.
2. From the main menu choose Co-op, then the option to join a dedicated server.
3. Type IP:Port into the address field exactly as shown in your panel.
4. Enter the server password if one is set, then connect.

The server appears in your recent servers list afterwards, so you only type it once.

4. What to give your friends

• The IP:Port string.
• The server password, if you set one.
• A reminder that everyone must be on the same game version. Astroneer updates the client automatically, so restart the server after a game update.

5. If the connection times out

• Confirm the server is online in the panel, not just started a moment ago.
• Check the port. Astroneer needs the exact port from the panel, and a missing port makes the client try the default.
• Check the PublicIP value in the server settings file. If it does not match the IP shown in your panel, clients time out on connect. See the troubleshooting guide in this category.

Open a ticket from Support in the Client Area with your IP, port and the error text if it continues.
