How to Connect to Your Windrose Server

Windrose does not use an IP and port to join. Every server has an invite code, and that code is the only thing your friends need.

Find your invite code

1. Open your server at https://panel.playnhost.com.
2. Open Files and find ServerDescription.json.
3. The invite code is in there. A unique code is generated automatically when the server is first created.

The panel console also prints the code at startup, which is often the quickest place to read it.

Join the server

1. Launch Windrose and choose Play.
2. Select Connect to server.
3. Paste the invite code.
4. Enter the password if the server is password protected.

What to share

The invite code, and the password if you set one. That is everything. There is no address to explain and no port to get wrong, which makes Windrose one of the easier games to invite people to.

Treat the code as semi private. Anyone with the code and the password can join.

The first start takes a while

A new server generates its world before accepting anyone. Watch the panel console rather than retrying the code.

If the code does not work

• Check the panel console for the server reporting it is ready.
• Read the code again from ServerDescription.json. If the file was edited while the server was running, values including the code can be reset.
• Confirm the port in the config matches the one on the server overview.
• A version mismatch after a game update stops joins. Restart the server so it pulls the new build.
