How to become an admin on your ANEURISM IV server

Admin rights on an ANEURISM IV server are a list of Steam64 IDs in a file called ranks.json.

1. Get your Steam64 ID

This is the 17 digit number for your Steam account. Any Steam ID lookup site converts a profile URL into it. A profile name will not work.

2. Add yourself to ranks.json

1. Stop the server in the Game Panel.
2. Open the Files tab and find ranks.json in the same config folder as aniv.cfg.
3. Add your ID to the members array. Entries are quoted and separated by commas.
4. Save the file and start the server.

JSON is unforgiving. A trailing comma after the last entry, or a missing quotation mark, makes the whole file fail to load and nobody gets admin. If the server does not recognise you, that is the first thing to check.

3. Run server commands

• Press the ` key in game to open the console.
• status lists who is connected.
• asay sends an announcement to everyone on the server.
• password sets or clears the server password without a restart.

You can also type these into the Console tab in the Game Panel. Commands sent from there run as the server itself, so they work even when you are not in game.

4. Removing an admin

Stop the server, remove the ID from the members array in ranks.json, save, and start the server. The file is read at boot.

If your ID is in the file and the commands still do not run, open a ticket with the contents of ranks.json.
