How to Connect to Your Vein Server

VeinUpdated Sep 24, 20263 min read

Vein servers are found in the in-game browser when they are set to public. Your server has a game port players connect on and a query port the browser reads.

Find your address

Open your server at https://panel.playnhost.com. The overview shows the IP and the ports assigned to SERVER_PORT and QUERY_PORT. Players connect on SERVER_PORT.

Join from the browser

  1. Launch Vein and open the server browser.
  2. Clear the filters, particularly the ones hiding empty and password protected servers.
  3. Search for your server name as set by ServerName in game.ini.
  4. Join, entering the password if one is set.

A server with bPublic set to false does not appear in the browser at all, but can still be joined directly.

Join directly

Vein is built on Unreal Engine, so the console connect works:

  1. Open the console at the main menu with the tilde key.
  2. Run:
    open 203.0.113.10:7777
    using your IP and SERVER_PORT.

This is the line to give your players. It works whether or not the server is listed.

If you cannot connect

  • Check the panel console. Vein logs the map loading and reports when the server is ready.
  • Confirm you used SERVER_PORT and not the query port.
  • A version mismatch after a game update hides the server from updated clients. Restart the server so it pulls the new build.
  • If the server is listed but you are refused, a password is set in game.ini that has not been shared.
