How to Change Your Voyagers of Nera Server Name and Password

Voyagers of Nera splits its settings into two files in one folder. This one holds the server itself. The other holds the gameplay rules.

Open the file

1. Start the server once so the config files are created, then stop it.
2. In the panel open Files and go to:

   BoatGame/Saved/PersistedData/CustomConfig/

3. Open CustomHostUserSettings.ini.

Stop the server before editing. The files are written back on shutdown, so an edit made while it runs is lost.

The settings

• Server name, what players search for in the list. Make it distinctive.
• Password, empty for an open server.
• Max players, the player limit.
• Autosave timer, how often the world is written to disk. A shorter interval means less lost if the server stops uncleanly.

The ports

The server port and query port values must match the ports allocated to your server, shown on the server overview. Changing them here makes the server unreachable even though it starts cleanly.

Slots

Your plan's slot count is applied through the MAX_PLAYERS variable on your server's Startup Settings page, reachable from the server overview. Raising the limit in the INI alone does not add slots. Upgrade the plan in the billing area to run more players.

Gameplay rules are a separate file

Gathering rates, damage multipliers, durability and death penalties are in CustomGameUserSettings.ini in the same folder. See our guide on changing the gameplay settings.

Apply and verify

1. Save the file.
2. Start the server.
3. Search for the name in the server list. If the old name is still showing, the file was overwritten because the server was running when you edited it.

Back up first

Download the CustomConfig folder and the save folder from Files before a round of changes.
