Soulmask splits its configuration in two. The server identity is set by launch parameters, and the gameplay economy is set in an INI file.
Part 1: name and passwords
Soulmask reads these from its launch line, which on your server is set on the Startup Settings page, reachable from the server overview. The parameters are:
-SteamServerName, the name shown in the server list.-PSW, the join password. Leave it unset for an open server.-adminpsw, the admin password used with the in-game GM panel. See our guide on becoming an admin.-MaxPlayers, the player limit.
Stop the server, change the values, then start it. Soulmask reads the launch line only at startup.
Part 2: gameplay settings
- Start the server once so the file is created, then stop it.
- In the panel open Files and go to:
The folder is namedWS/Saved/Config/WindowsServer/GameUserSettings.iniWindowsServerregardless of the host operating system, which is normal for this game. - Edit the file with the server stopped, then start it.
The settings here cover the economy and survival rules: harvesting and experience multipliers, item and structure decay, the rate at which tribe members gather and craft, food and stamina drain, and the difficulty of the world's enemies.
Search the file for the setting name rather than scrolling, and change one value at a time so you can tell what each change did.
Slots
Your plan's slot count is applied through the MAX_PLAYERS variable on your server's Startup Settings page. To run more players, upgrade the plan in the billing area.
Do not change the ports
The port values must match the ones allocated to your server, shown on the server overview. Changing them makes the server unreachable even though it starts cleanly.
Apply and verify
Start the server and check the name in the server list. If a change did not take, the most likely cause is that the server was running when you edited the INI, since it is rewritten on shutdown.
