Is this Insurgency or Insurgency: Sandstorm?
This is Insurgency, the 2014 Source engine game. Sandstorm is a separate title and has its own hosting page. If your group plays the older one, and plenty still do, this is the right server.
How many slots should I take?
Eight is a coordinated squad playing co-op against bots. Sixteen is the classic competitive size and what most communities run. Thirty two is for a busy public server on large maps where people are constantly joining and leaving.
Can I set a join password?
Yes, it is a panel field. Set it and only people you have given it to can connect, which is the simplest way to keep a scrim server to your own team.
Can I change the map and the game mode?
The starting map is a panel field. Mode settings, map cycles and everything else live in the server's config files, which you have in full through the web file manager and over SFTP.
How much RAM does it need?
Not much. Insurgency is a Source engine game and 2GB covers a small server comfortably. The larger tiers are there to give a 32 slot public server headroom on the biggest maps, not because the game is heavy.
