How much RAM does an Empyrion server need?
More than most survival games. Empyrion holds multiple playfields in memory, and a capital vessel is a structure of tens of thousands of blocks that has to be loaded whenever anyone is near it. 6GB is the entry point, 10GB is comfortable for a group that builds seriously, and 16GB is for a busy server with several fleets and bases across a system.
Can I set the world seed?
Yes, the seed is a panel field. Set it before first boot to get the galaxy you want. Changing it later generates a different world, so decide early or be ready to start fresh.
Can I make the server private?
Yes. There is a server password field in the panel. Set it, restart, and only people with the password can join.
Can I change scenarios and gameplay settings?
Yes, through the files rather than through a form. Empyrion's scenario and gameplay configuration lives in the server's own directory, which you reach with the web file manager and over SFTP. Stop the server before editing so the game does not write over your changes on shutdown.
How fast is setup?
The server is created and installing the moment you check out. Empyrion is a large download, so give the first install a little longer than a small game before it is ready.
