How to Set the Admin Password on Your Satisfactory Server

Satisfactory has no admin list of Steam IDs. Control is by password, set when the server is claimed and changeable afterwards from the Server Manager.

The two passwords

• The admin password gives full control of the server: creating and loading saves, changing settings, and managing the world. Anyone who has it is effectively the owner.
• The client password is what a player types to join. Leave it empty for an open server.

Set them on a new server

The first person to connect is prompted to claim the server, which is where both passwords are set. See our guide on connecting to your Satisfactory server for the claim steps.

Change them on a claimed server

1. Open the Server Manager in game and select your server.
2. Open the Settings tab.
3. Change the admin password or the client password and confirm.

Changing the admin password immediately drops other admin sessions. Changing the client password disconnects players who joined with the old one.

If you have lost the admin password

There is no recovery from inside the game. The server has to be reset to an unclaimed state so it can be claimed again, and the world is preserved separately in the save files. Before doing anything:

1. Stop the server in the panel.
2. Open Files and download your saves from:

   .config/Epic/FactoryGame/Saved/SaveGames/server/

With the saves safely downloaded, open a ticket asking for the server to be returned to an unclaimed state. You can then claim it again and load the save back.

Server settings worth reviewing

The same Settings tab in the Server Manager holds the options that affect everyone:

• Auto pause, which freezes the factory when no player is connected. Useful, but it also stops overnight production.
• Auto save on disconnect.
• Autosave interval and how many autosaves are kept.
• Restart on save behaviour.

Slots

Your plan's slot count is applied through the MAX_PLAYERS variable on your server's Startup Settings page, reachable from the server overview. To run more players, upgrade the plan in the billing area.
