How to change your 7 Days to Die server name, password and slots

Almost every headline setting on a 7 Days to Die server lives in one file, serverconfig.xml, in the root of your server files.

1. Open the file

1. Open your server in the Game Panel and click Stop. Wait until the console shows the server is offline.
2. Go to the Files tab.
3. Click serverconfig.xml in the root folder to open the editor.

Every setting is a line in the same format. You change the text inside value, never the text inside name.

3. Save and restart

1. Click Save Content in the file editor.
2. Click Start on the console page.
3. Check the console for the new server name as it boots.

4. If a value keeps reverting

• Editing the file while the server is running is the usual cause. Stop the server first.
• A few values are also exposed as fields on the Startup page of your server. That page is not linked in the sidebar, so open your server in the panel and add /startup to the end of the address. Anything set there is applied at boot and will win over the file.
• World related values such as GameWorld and WorldGenSeed do not change a world that already exists. See the troubleshooting guide in this category.
