DayZ players join through the DayZ Launcher rather than the game itself. Adding the server as a favourite is the reliable route.
1. Find your server address
- Log in to the Client Area at https://playnhost.com/billing and open your DayZ service.
- Note the IP / Hostname and the ports. DayZ uses 2302 for the game by default and a separate query port for the server list.
2. Start the server
- Open the server in the Game Panel at https://panel.playnhost.com and click Start.
- Watch the Console. The first start builds the economy files and takes a few minutes.
3. Add the server in the launcher
- Open the DayZ Launcher from Steam.
- Go to the Servers tab.
- Use the option to add a server by address and enter your IP with the query port.
- The server appears in your favourites. Select it and click Join.
4. Modded servers
- The launcher shows which mods a server runs and offers to download them.
- Let it load the mod set from the server rather than picking mods by hand, since the order matters.
- The first join to a heavily modded server takes a long time while the mods download.
5. What to give your group
- The IP and query port for the launcher.
- The server password, if you set one.
- A note that the launcher handles the mods, so nobody should install them manually.
If a player is kicked at the loading screen, it is usually a mod or signature problem. See the troubleshooting guide in this category. Open a ticket from Support with the exact message if it continues.
