GAMESERVERS
GamepanelAstroneer server settings live in AstroServerSettings.ini, in the config folder under Astro/Saved/Config/.
1. Open the file
- Stop the server in the Game Panel and wait for it to report offline. Astroneer rewrites this file on shutdown, so edits made to a running server are lost.
- Open the Files tab and browse to the config folder.
- Click
AstroServerSettings.ini.
2. The settings you will change

ServerName | The name shown to players in their server list. |
ServerPassword | Password to join. Empty means open. |
OwnerName | The owner of the server. Must be typed exactly as the player name. |
MaxServerFramerate | Server tick rate. Leave it at the default unless we advise otherwise. |
MaxServerIdleTimeout | Seconds of no players before the server shuts itself down. 0 disables it. |
AutoSaveGameInterval | Seconds between autosaves. |
BackupSaveGamesInterval | Seconds between save backups. |
ActiveSaveFileDescriptiveName | Which save the server loads. |
PublicIP | The public address players reach the server on. It must match the IP in your panel. |
3. Save and restart
- Save the file.
- Start the server.
- Join once and confirm the name and password behave as expected.
4. Notes that save time
OwnerNameis how the server knows who you are. Get it wrong and you connect as an ordinary player with no owner rights.- An idle timeout that is set too low makes the server look like it keeps crashing when it is doing exactly what you asked.
- The game port is set in
Engine.iniunder the[URL]section, and it is already set to match the port allocated to your service. Changing it takes the server off the network.
If a value keeps reverting, the server was running when you saved. Stop it first, every time.
